Is there a way to add a late racer?
Yes. Refer to our Add Racer After Racing Started tutorial video.
How do vehicle numbers work?
Here's the rules for vehicle numbers:
- Must be numerical (no letters or other special characters)
- Cannot be zero
- Cannot be negative
- No two racers can have the same number, even if they are in different race groups
- Do not need to be consecutive (you can have number gaps)
- Cannot have leading zeros (e.g. 007 is treated as 7)
- Can be very large (there is a maximum number, but it is very large)
Since vehicle numbers do not need to be consecutive, you have the flexibility of letting the racers choose their own vehicle numbers. Given the chance, the kids would love to pick their own vehicle numbers and incorporate it into their design.
If you wish, you can setup each race group with a different series of numbers (e.g. 100 series numbers for one group, 200 series for another, etc.). That can make it easier to find vehicles during a race.
Can a whole list of racers be imported into the software?
Yes, there is a feature that will import racers from a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file, a tab delimited TXT file or even directly from a DerbyDMV data file. A CSV or text delimited TXT file can be created from spreadsheet or database programs. Refer to the help file for more information on this feature.
The software does come with an Excel spreadsheet that you can use for entering your racers. It is "RaceRosterData.xls" and is installed to the software's "Documents\Lisano Enterprises\GrandPrix Race Manager\Samples" folder. Enter your racers into the first worksheet and the second worksheet provides instructions on how to save your racer list as a CSV file that you can then import into the software.
